Product Description
Vinblastine is an anti-mitotic drug, used for the treatment of various kinds of cancer, including Hodgkin's lymphoma, non-small cell lung cancer, breast cancer, testicular cancer etc.
Dosage:
- Vinblastine 10mg/10ml
- Vinblastine Lyophilized 10mg
How it is Administered
- Injected directly into the veins using fine tube (cannula) inserted into the veins of the arms
- Through a central line in the form of drip, which is injected under the skin into a vein near the collarbone
- Using a PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) line, which is inserted into a vein in the crook of the ar
Side Effects
The possible side effects of the drugs are given below. However, it is important to immediately contact your doctor if you notice any of these symptoms. Iul
- Lowered resistance to infection
- Anaemia
- Nausea and vomiting
- Tiredness and feeling weak
Precautions
- There may be stinging or burning around the vein while the drug is being administered or in case there is any leakage of fluid from the cannula site, immediately bring it to the notice of your doctor
- The leakage of the drug into the tissue around the vein may cause serious damage to the tissue
- If the area around the interjection becomes red or swollen bring it to the notice of the doctor
- It is advisable to avoid pregnancy or becoming father during the course of treatment or at least after a month
