Paciltaxel is a mitotic inhibitor that is used as cancer chemotherapy drugs. They are used in the case of ovarian, breast, non-small cell lung cancer etc. It works by stopping the cancer cells from multiplying into new cells, thereby controlling the cancer.
Dosage :Paciltaxel 30mg/5ml
How it is Administered- Injected through a fine tube in the vein
- Through a central line under the skin into the veins of collar bone
- By PICC line, which is inserted into the crook of the arm
Side EffectsThere may be some side effects of the drug. In case you experience any of the side effects, immediately contact your doctor.
- Lowered resistance to infection
- Bruising or bleeding
- Anemia
- Sore mouth and ulcers
- Taste changes
- Diarrhea
- Tiredness and feeling weak
- Hair loss
- Aching or pain in joints and muscles
- Changes of skin colour
- Numbness or tingling in hands or feet
- Headaches
- Allergic reaction
- Nausea and vomiting
Precautions- It can cause pain at the point of injection or along the vein. If you feel such a pain or burning sensation, immediately bring this to the notice of your doctor or nurse
- Tell your doctor about all the prescription and OTC medications you use
- Paciltaxel can have a serious drug interaction with few other medicine and compositions
- Discuss with your doctors about any plans of pregnancy or becoming a father
